Status: Planned

This page is the canonical encounter-by-encounter boss roster.

Every boss entry below already has a matching Blockbench source model scaffold under mod/model_source/blockbench/bosses/.

Phase 01

Ashroot Sentinel

  • Region: Greenwake
  • Encounter Group: Ashroot Sentinel
  • Minecraft Anchor: Ravager bulk, shrine guardian posture, and rotten stag antler language translated into a rooted forest bruiser.
  • Fantasy Role: A shrine-fed woodland juggernaut grown from bark, resin, and brood rot. It should read like Minecraft built a war beast out of a dead oak and a horned herd guardian.
  • Habitat: Root Groves, Ashroot Shrines, and the thicker cave mouths beneath Greenwake.
  • Summon or Trigger: Called by driving an Ashroot Effigy into a marked grove or shrine ring so the roots below the arena wake up around it.
  • Arena Plan: A circular root court with trunk cover, resin pods, brood pits, and enough space to reward mounted repositioning without trivializing the fight.
  • Combat Plan: Heavy rushes, bark-plated shoulder checks, root-pulse shockwaves, broodling pod volleys, and a late enrage where the resin hump cracks open and starts firing amber mortar bursts.
  • Silhouette: A forward-leaning quadruped with cathedral antlers, a swollen resin hump, and a chest that looks more like a gate ram than an animal torso.
  • Palette: Oak bark brown, damp moss green, ashroot red, and hot amber resin cracks.
  • Model Archetype: quadruped_ungulate with traits antlers, hump, jaw_tusks, shoulder_spikes, tail_spikes
  • Model Direction: Push the chest and forequarters bigger than a normal animal so the model sells impact. The antlers should feel shrine-like, not naturalistic deer antlers.
  • Related Mob Line: Rootbound Walker, Sapbat, Burrow Mite

Phase 02

The White Brood

  • Region: Frostweb
  • Encounter Group: The White Brood
  • Minecraft Anchor: Cave-spider movement and brood-chamber logic turned into a snow-cave matriarch with Terraria-style arena control.
  • Fantasy Role: A frost-silk queen that turns nest walls, ceiling space, and cocoon clusters into part of the fight.
  • Habitat: Open snow nests, frozen sinkholes, and layered brood caverns under Frostweb.
  • Summon or Trigger: Triggered by cutting the wrong cocoons or binding a brood lure into a live nest heart.
  • Arena Plan: A bowl-shaped nest with climbable silk pillars, low ledges, and icy drop pockets that force line-of-sight breaks.
  • Combat Plan: Web ring traps, ceiling dives, cocoon bursts, broodling swarms, and a blizzard phase where the queen paints escape lanes with frozen silk.
  • Silhouette: Low, wide spider geometry with a blossom-like white abdomen, icicle crown, and oversized front mandibles that read clearly even in snow fog.
  • Palette: Off-white silk, pale frost blue, dead black eyes, and faint lavender ice veins.
  • Model Archetype: spider with traits crown, abdomen_spikes, fangs, wing_spikes
  • Model Direction: The abdomen should be beautiful and disturbing at the same time. Give the legs a slight asymmetry so it looks like a natural brood horror instead of a perfect chess piece.
  • Related Mob Line: White Broodling, Frostbitten, Ice Moth

  • Fantasy Role: A starving library intelligence that writes spells faster than it can hold its own body together.
  • Habitat: Black Archive script vaults, forbidden reading halls, and buried record chambers.
  • Summon or Trigger: Awakened by assembling torn index seals and pushing the archive core beyond safe load.
  • Arena Plan: A reading dais wrapped by rotating shelves, ink pools, hanging script frames, and high ledges for grapnel play.
  • Combat Plan: Blink-script sigils, page storms, ink lash tentacles, summoned quill sentries, and a panic phase where the robe peels open into a halo of loose pages and cords.
  • Silhouette: A gaunt floating scribe with a hooded torso, scroll halo, dangling ink tentacles, and long writing-arm proportions instead of a normal fighter stance.
  • Palette: Soot black, pale parchment, bruised purple ink, and dull brass trim.
  • Model Archetype: robed_mage with traits hood, tentacles, floating_shards, staff, cloak
  • Model Direction: This model should feel too thin in the middle and too busy around the head and hands. The hanging tentacles should be thick enough to animate as real appendages later.

Phase 04

Horned Regent

  • Region: Windplain Cairns
  • Encounter Group: Horned Regent
  • Minecraft Anchor: Goat charge logic, stone arena language, and ceremonial beast-pageantry pushed into a plains hunt king.
  • Fantasy Role: A war-beast that looks half like a steppe monarch and half like a memorial statue torn loose from its cairn.
  • Habitat: Cairn rings, open meadows, and storm-prone ridge arenas.
  • Summon or Trigger: Called by laying bone offerings and wind bells across the right cairn circle at dusk.
  • Arena Plan: A broad open-ground ring with standing stones, low walls, and enough sightlines to make dodge timing the real skill check.
  • Combat Plan: Short burst charges, stone stomp crescents, horn sweep knockups, wind lanes, and summoned goat escorts that punish tunnel vision.
  • Silhouette: A tall plains beast with layered horn mass, banner mane, and slab-heavy shoulders that make it look both regal and brutal.
  • Palette: Chalk bone, storm gray stone, yellowed grass, and muted copper bells.
  • Model Archetype: quadruped_ungulate with traits horns, mane, back_banner, shoulder_spikes
  • Model Direction: Keep the torso cleaner than the Greenwake boss. This one should read as fast and open-ground dangerous, not rooted and overgrown.

  • Encounter Group: Murkcoil
  • Minecraft Anchor: Swamp serpent pressure, leech mouth language, and toxic terrain control translated into a coiling marsh apex.
  • Fantasy Role: A lamprey-jawed bog ruler that turns still water and reed beds into a moving arena hazard.
  • Habitat: Mire channels, poison ponds, flooded cave pockets, and half-submerged ritual pits.
  • Summon or Trigger: Pulled from the mire by binding glassspine charms to a marked depth pool during foul weather.
  • Arena Plan: A broken marsh ring with shallow water lanes, reed cover, poison puddles, and narrow dry humps for temporary safety.
  • Combat Plan: Coil rushes, toxic spit fans, suction pulls, fake body feints, and a late phase where the pond itself starts birthing smaller glass eels.
  • Silhouette: A long body with a huge round mouth, layered reed fins, and toxin sacs that catch the eye before the head is even visible.
  • Palette: Bog green, oil black, amber toxin, and clouded glass-blue nodules.
  • Model Archetype: serpent with traits fins, back_spines, jaw_tusks, tail_spikes
  • Model Direction: The head should be a real event. Oversize the mouth, throat ring, and fin spread so it reads from above and through marsh clutter.

  • Fantasy Role: A giant carrion raptor that wears bones and temple cloth like stolen regalia.
  • Habitat: Sunscar ruin fields, cliff nests, canyon thermals, and shattered altar dunes.
  • Summon or Trigger: Provoked by placing sun-char offerings beneath a marked ruin perch and surviving the first shadow pass.
  • Arena Plan: A dune amphitheater with broken pillars, thermal updrafts, and debris lanes that matter once the boss takes to the air.
  • Combat Plan: Dive bombs, glare flashes, sand cyclone drags, summoned carrion chicks, and a final phase with long aerial strafes between perch resets.
  • Silhouette: A broad-winged desert raptor with a crown-like head profile, ragged banner feathers, and oversized leg hooks for landing impact.
  • Palette: Bone white, dune gold, soot black, and faded crimson cloth knots.
  • Model Archetype: bird with traits crown, wing_spikes, tail_spikes, back_banner
  • Model Direction: The wings need real span even in a simplified Blockbench source. This is one of the first bosses that should look good circling above the player.

  • Fantasy Role: A waterlogged admiral fused to anchors, rope, barnacles, and half the deck he died on.
  • Habitat: Blackwake docks, beached hulls, tide caverns, and cannon courts.
  • Summon or Trigger: Awakened by raising the admiral standard after clearing the right harbor batteries.
  • Arena Plan: A wet timber deck ring with tide surges, cannon sightlines, mast cover, and rope gaps that reward either grapnel play or fast mounts.

  • Palette: Salt gray, tar black, oxidized brass, barnacle white, and storm-blue fabric scraps.
  • Model Archetype: raider with traits hat, cloak, hook, shell, shoulder_spikes
  • Model Direction: Do not make this a generic zombie pirate. The anchor arm and deck-hardware shoulder mass are the features that sell it.

Phase 08

  • Encounter Group: Graveshade Warden
  • Minecraft Anchor: Antlered grave guardian, stalking hound logic, and lantern-fear visual language merged into a deep-cave hunt boss.
  • Fantasy Role: A death-forest sentinel that moves like an elk, vanishes like a wraith, and punishes players for overcommitting in the dark.
  • Habitat: Underbriar tomb runs, lantern groves, grave roots, and shade gates.
  • Summon or Trigger: Called by lighting the wrong grave-lantern chain and then following the warden prints into its own lair.
  • Arena Plan: A dark antler grove with grave markers, lantern posts, root ridges, and angled trunks that break sightlines mid-chase.
  • Combat Plan: Blink stalks, lantern fear pulses, antler impales, shade pack calls, and a pressure phase where the safe lanterns begin going out.
  • Silhouette: A long-legged cave stag with lantern antlers, hollow ribs, and a predator neck that keeps it from reading as a normal deer.
  • Palette: Dead bark brown, grave green, fog gray, and eerie lantern gold.
  • Model Archetype: quadruped_ungulate with traits antlers, lanterns, tail_spikes, shoulder_spikes

  • Fantasy Role: A cavern moth monarch that turns frost dust, wing gusts, and cocoon eggs into a layered control fight.
  • Habitat: Deep Rime roost chambers, hanging cocoon halls, and crystal frost vents.
  • Summon or Trigger: Roused by heating a frozen ovum cluster with the wrong cryostone catalyst.
  • Arena Plan: A tall hanging chamber with frost ledges, ceiling cocoons, crystal pillars, and vertical routes that reward smart movement.

  • Palette: Terracotta orange, kiln black, root brown, and mossed jade glaze.
  • Model Archetype: construct with traits belly_core, tentacles, back_banner, crown

  • Palette: Charcoal black, pale ash gray, and ember red accents kept mostly dormant.

  • Palette: Midnight plum, moon silver, deep wine red, and pale skin.

  • Summon or Trigger: Not crafted in the normal sense. It is revealed by stabilizing then breaking the final breach seam during the capstone arc.
  • Arena Plan: A broken horizon platform of floating land shards, gravity tears, void rails, and open sky so the final fight uses the project’s vertical promise fully.
  • Combat Plan: Rift beams, tentacle anchors, gravity shears, summoned tears, and multi-stage arena mutilation that still stays readable because each cut is deliberate and telegraphed.
  • Silhouette: A vast central eye-maw with crown fins and long asymmetrical tentacles, more like a sky-borne reef predator than a generic blob.
  • Palette: Void black, electric cyan, pale wound pink, and cold prism white.
  • Model Archetype: tentacle_aberration with traits crown, tentacles, floating_shards, belly_core
